Using EFT To Make Difficult Decisions With Ease

"It does not take much strength to do things, but it requires great strength to decide on what to do" - Elbert Hubbard

Knowledge is power, but do you ever feel overwhelmed with information, choices, options? Do your emotions get in the way of you making a decision that you are happy with?

We are faced with decisions to make every day. What to have for breakfast, what to wear to work, which film to see at the cinema.. Of the hundreds, possibly thousands of decisions that we make each day, most of them will be made almost subconsciously as the choice we make is an obvious or easy one, with all the supporting evidence we need to be happy with our decision. However every now and again we will come across dilemmas where we have two or more options to choose from, and we are unable to decide which is the best option to take.

Difficult decisions can include anything to do with our family, our relationships, the health of ourselves or a loved one, money, our career path or many other areas that are fundamental to our lives and our purpose. In fact decisions become difficult to make whenever there is an emotional element to them.

Choosing what to have for breakfast or to wear to the office is usually a simple task as there is not often an emotional attachment to the outcome of this thought process (of course there can be emotions involved in these everyday decisions for those who have issues with food, weight or self image, but for the majority of people it will be an easy decision to make, that thinking back they were probably not even aware of making).

What I am going to suggest is that you apply EFT to any difficult decisions you have to make. You may well have already researched all the options and have all the information you need to make a decision but there are still elements that leave you unsure. The "what if's" may be getting in the way of your rational, logical thinking.

I have seen EFT applied very successfully to calm the busy, over-emotional mind, into being able to rationalise and make a decision that feels comfortable. In my work with pregnancy I have seen EFT help women make difficult decisions about what kind of birth they should choose - caesarean, natural, medicated, at home. In these modern times women are given all the options which is positive and empowering, but it can also throw up a lot of heart wrenching and emotion. Guilt, pride and fear are some of the emotions that may cloud our thinking and even with access to all the choices and information, making a decision can still seem a daunting or impossible task.

EFT can be simply applied whenever you have a decision or choice to make in the following way:*

Tapping on the Karate Chop point say the following set up phrase 3 times - "Even though I have no idea what to do, whether to do x, y or z I deeply and completely accept myself". And then tap on each point while keeping focused on the muddle in your mind and saying "I don't know what to do/which to choose".

Also it's important to focus on the actual emotions that may be making the decision-making process difficult for you. So other phrases you use may be - "Even though I want to do x but it scares me/I want to do y but I feel guilty/I don't know whether to choose z as it worries me". Working with these emotions and clearing them away should them enable you to make a decision by referring to the facts only, and not allowing emotions to cloud your judgement.

Has EFT helped you to come to a decision? Or do you think this is something you would like to try on a current issue in your life? Email me with any feedback, successes you would like to share or questions.
